Efforts to promote cooperation among sister cities and municipal entities of the BRICS countries are essential in order to strengthen interregional ties and share best practices in countering challenges caused by the rapid onset of urbanization.
One of the features of the BRICS Friendship Cities and Local Government Cooperation Forum in 2020 will be the further implementation of the “BRICS Plus” format by involving regional partners of the BRICS countries among developing countries. . This format will establish cooperation in developing joint responses to the current international challenges related to ensuring sustainable development, sustained economic growth and eliminating the existing imbalances.
